Bay Montessori's Houston Relief Donation Drive

Attention Bay Community!

We are organizing a donation drive to help children and families affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston. Ms. Veronique, our teacher in the green door, will be driving down to Houston in a few weeks. She has graciously volunteered to bring any supplies or necessities we collect. We will be setting up a box in the office. The last day we will accept donations is Thursday, September 28th.

Please consider involving your child in putting together items for donation. One option is for children to make a child care kit for a child their age, while an adult models making an adult care kit. We have been told that care kits and backpacks will be needed for at least the next three months.

Here are the recommended contents for care kits and backpacks:

Care Kit for Children

All contents go in a gallon size plastic bag with label 4-year old and if gender specific 4-year old girl:

• Children’s toothbrush • Toothbrush cover • Toothpaste • Bar of soap or body wash • Pocket pack of Kleenex • 2-1 shampoo/conditioner • Lotion • New washcloth • Draw a picture or make a card • Personal item - small stuffed animal, book, game, cards

Backpack for School Age Children

• Toothbrush • Toothbrush cover • Toothpaste • Bar of soap or body wash • Pocket pack of Kleenex • 2-1 shampoo/conditioner • Lotion • New washcloth • School supplies • Gift card to Target, Walmart, or Academy for a school uniform – approximately $20 a uniform • Note of encouragement

Care Kit for Adults - All contents go in a gallon size plastic bag

• Pocket pack Kleenex • Disposable razor • Shaving cream • Toothbrush cover • Toothpaste • Dental floss • Deodorant • Bar of soap or body wash • 2-1 shampoo/conditioner • Lotion • Chapstick • New washcloth • Note of encouragement • Female - Feminine hygiene products
