Bay Montessori Summer Camp
Join us at Bay Montessori for a summer of discovery and fun!
We offer ten weeks of camps for ages 2-11yo.
Children will have a chance to grow socially, creatively, and emotionally while exploring our 13-acre campus and splashing in our pool!
We take our learning beyond the classroom and apply it firsthand to the world around us.

Pre-Primary & Primary camps are 9 am - 12 pm.
School age camps are 9 am - 3 pm.
Before/aftercare is available.

General Session Information:
Camps will be closed on 6/19 to observe Juneteenth and 7/3 & 7/4 to observe Independence Day.
Individual swimming lessons will be offered throughout the summer at an extra cost [8 – 25min lessons for $120]. Parents are welcome to watch their child’s swim lesson and gain ideas to implement at home. (Spaces are limited.)
Enrollment:
All current Bay Montessori School (BMS) students must complete the Summer Enrollment Form.
Non-BMS students must fill out the Non-Bay Student Summer Enrollment Form.
Cancellation:
Cancellation of a student’s enrollment in summer camp must occur by 3 pm on Monday, two weeks before their camp begins. If not canceled two weeks prior, you will be responsible for payment of the camp.
****Therefore, it is imperative to inform the office by email or Bloomz message of any changes to your Summer Camp schedule as soon as you know.

Any family with 2 or more children enrolled for 3 or more camps will receive $10 off each child’s camp session.
Montessori Pre-Primary Camps 6/12 – 8/18 (10 weeks)
Pre-Primary campers will experience a Montessori classroom throughout the summer while participating in other fun activities in the sun!
Nature Walks & Gardening – led by our gardener, Ms. Debra, children will enjoy nature walks among our gardens and the meadow while exploring local plants and creatures. Campers will participate in planting seeds, watering gardens, and harvesting edible treats.
Library & Storytime – children of all ages appreciate being read to! Campers will visit our library at Bay and enjoy story time with our librarian, Ms. Susan. They will also check out books to keep in their classrooms.
Wheel Day – campers are invited to bring a riding toy from home to enjoy riding it in our coned-off parking lot while learning about road safety and listening to some music.
Sprinkler fun/water play – campers will enjoy running around in the sprinklers and splashing with toys at a water table as they develop their fine & gross motor skills and coordination.
Montessori Primary Camps 6/12 – 8/18 (10 weeks)
Primary Campers will join in a variety of interactive activities throughout each week while practicing Montessori practical life in their environments!
Swim Lessons & Sprinkler Fun – campers will receive swimming lessons (2X/wk), gain confidence in the pool, and learn skills they can use throughout the summer. They will also enjoy some free swim time and splash in the sprinklers.
Mindful Movement – a trainer and instructor from Peaktop Wellness, Ms. Amanda, will lead campers in games and learning exercises focused on general gross motor movement, stretching, breathing, balance and coordination. Promoting strong connections between mind and muscle and having fun in the process!

Art & STEM – campers will explore a variety of art and building materials to create crafts and structures as they develop their fine & gross motor skills and coordination.
Cooking & Baking – campers will enjoy cooking and baking a variety of treats and snacks using hands-on learning and enjoy tasting them afterwards. Cooking is an exciting and pleasant sensory experience for children which provides avenues for development of math concepts, language, science, and cultural subjects.

6/12 - 16 | Study of Artists | Campers will explore various amazing artists including Cezanne, Picasso, O’Keeffe, and Alma Thomas. They will learn about their history of becoming an artist and do a study on one of each of their most famous works. Campers will also collaborate on a large-scale painting project to decorate our art room at Bay. |
6/19 - 23 | The Bread & Butter of Cooking | Starting with the basics, this camp will explore how to make bread, hand-churned butter, and fresh local jam. Campers will learn what goes into making these pantry staples that they likely eat almost every day. They will plan, measure, gather, cook, taste, and package each component to enjoy together in a celebratory picnic on the last day. This camp will include a field trip to our local farmer’s market. |
6/26 - 30 | Show Yourself! | Drama opens possibilities for us to express ourselves and share our thoughts and feelings with the world! Campers will participate in games, activities, and exercises led by our drama teacher, Ms. Ariel. They will explore movement, improvisation, spatial awareness, teamwork, collaboration, and storytelling. This camp will include an overnight campout in the meadow and a short play will be performed by campers on Friday evening. |
7/3 - 7 | St. Mary's City Colonial Days | Campers will learn about life in Maryland during colonial times. They will play “hoop and stick” and the “game of graces” and make their own colonial toy! Campers will learn how to create a map and locate this historic city and other points of interest on it. This camp will include a field trip to Historic St. Mary’s city, where we will see customary traditions and how they lived their daily lives. |
7/10 - 14 | Storytime Fun for everyone! | Campers will enjoy hearing new stories and exploring the ins and outs of telling stories in a class led by our librarian, Ms. Susan. They will learn about the parts that make up a story and work on creating characters, settings, and stories of their own. |
7/17 - 21 | STEM Exploration | Learn what makes bubbles, bubble! Have fun with mixtures and blowing instruments. Build a car (vanity plates optional) to sit in for the “drive-in” movie. Create a micro city with towers and tunnels and race at the speedway! This camp will include a field trip to Point Lookout State Park to experience their natural resources; an ecosystem that is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including nesting and migrating bird species. |
7/24 - 28 | Carboard and Clay Creations | Campers will explore the use of cardboard and clay for creating artistic and useable items such as picture frames and treasure chests. They will work with their hands to mix, form, and create! |
7/31 - 8/4 | Drumming with Sheila | Rhythm activates the whole brain and promotes health! In this camp, friends will explore the importance of rhythm and learn about the history of drumming in various cultures. They will explore a variety of percussion instruments while focusing on keeping a steady beat in a drum circle led by Ms. Sheila from SoMarDrummers. Families are invited to join our drum circle on Friday! |
8/7 - 11 | Pirates Ahoy | Pirate or Privateer? Campers will learn the history of pirates who cruised the Bay and beyond! They will make their own telescope, observe how a compass is used to read and follow a map, dress like a pirate, make sails for our “ship”, and dig for a buried pirate treasure chest! |
8/14 - 18 | Native American Discoveries | Campers will experience how they lived and built their homes, how they foraged and hunted for food. They will learn about what they wore and why; build their own miniature native homes and create “rain” and “talking” sticks from local bamboo. This camp will include a field trip to Jefferson-Patterson Park to explore the Woodland Indian Village. |
