Office Administrator

 

The Office Administrator will oversee the day-to-day operations of the school office. This person is the first point of contact for all visitors to the school and should be welcoming, helpful, and a professional representation of Bay Montessori School. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task. The Office Administrator will assist the Head of School and Program Director with various administrative tasks, requiring knowledge in Microsoft programs. This person will handle sensitive information and must maintain confidentiality about administrative or business information that is not available to employees, parents, or outsiders.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Welcoming visitors

  •  Ensure reception area is kept organized and tidy

  •  Manage phone calls from classrooms and outside, to include answering questions from prospective families

  •  Correspond with families and teachers

  •  Coordinate office activities and various administrative projects

  •  Receive, sort, and distribute mail and packages

  •  Keep stock of office supplies and order supplies

  •  Create and upkeep records and accounts for students – enrollment/health/billing

  •  Support teacher’s needs

  •  Maintain vendor files and schedule services

  •  Maintain employee records/renewals and continuing ed

  •  Coordinate school events

  •  Coordinate volunteers

  •  Fill in as an aide in the classroom in an immediate need

  •  Obtain notary credential and serve as notary for our school

Middle School Math

 

  • We are seeking Middle School Teachers for the Fall as we launch a new program serving 7th & 8th graders. We are looking for someone who embraces the Montessori philosophy and nurtures the whole child.

  • The candidate will be part of the Middle School teaching team at Bay working collaboratively with the other middle school teachers and administration to provide a program which aligns with the school's mission of empowering children to realize their unique human potential as competent, contributing members of society.

  • The school follows the Montessori philosophy, which guides the students to become life-long learners who respect themselves, others, and their environment.

 

Qualifications

  • Educational Background:

    • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred. ​

  • Teaching Credential​

    • Teaching certification is desirable but not mandatory​

  • Experience:

    • Previous teaching experience in the subject area at the Secondary level (6th-12th Grade)​

  • Preferred

    • The candidate should have knowledge of the Montessori philosophy​.

Working Hours

The Middle School teacher positions entails working part-time hours from 9am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.

Substitute

 

  • We are seeking dedicated and passionate Substitute Teachers to join our dynamic educational team.

  • As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment in the absence of our regular teaching staff.

Working Hours

The Substitute Teacher position entails working flexible hours from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday.

Summer Camp Teachers

We are excited to welcome a dynamic and enthusiastic Summer Camp Teacher to our team!

The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a vibrant and educational summer experience for children aged 3 to 11 years old.

This position is available starting in June and will continue until August 16th,2024

 

Responsibilities

  • Daily Planning:

    • Develop and implement engaging daily lesson plans and activities that cater to the interests and abilities of children in the summer camp program.

  • Fun and Safe Environment:

    • Create a lively and secure learning environment that fosters participation, creativity, and enthusiasm.

  • Supervision:

    • Ensure the safety of all children during activities, closely monitoring and supervising them at all times.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with other staff members to coordinate various camp activities and events.

  • The Summer Camp Teacher position entails working from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday.

About Bay Montessori

Bay Montessori School is a not-for-profit, 501c3 private school serving children ages birth – Middle School on a 13-acre campus in Southern Maryland. Our school is validated by the Montessori Schools of Maryland and affiliated with the American Montessori Society and the International Montessori Council. Our facility allows students the room to spread their wings and experience nature while being conveniently located near Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The school offers a complete Montessori program in an environment prepared according to guidelines set by Dr. Maria Montessori.
