Upper Elementary Assistant Teacher
Bay Montessori School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Upper Elementary Assistant Teacher to join our vibrant Montessori community in Lexington Park, Maryland. This full-time position supports our Upper Elementary classroom, serving students ages 9–12 (grades 4–6). The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Upper Elementary Lead Teacher while collaborating with the Lower Elementary Teacher and Head of School to create a positive, engaging, and child-centered learning environment.

Preschool Assistant & Lead Aftercare Teacher
Bay Montessori School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic educator to join our team as a Preschool Assistant & Lead Aftercare Teacher.
This role provides a unique opportunity to support children throughout their day by assisting in a Montessori preschool classroom during school hours and leading our Aftercare program in the afternoon. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, values a child-centered approach to education, and thrives in a collaborative environment.
While our preference is to fill this as a full-time position, we are open to considering two part-time candidates—one serving as the Preschool Assistant and one serving as the Lead Aftercare Teacher—for the right applicants.
Responsibilities
Preschool Assistant

STEM Education Enrichment Teacher (Part-Time)
Bay Montessori School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic STEM Education Enrichment Teacher to inspire students through hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences.
This part-time position is ideal for an educator who is creative, engaging, and passionate about helping children explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through interactive workshops and projects. The STEM Education Enrichment Teacher will work with Elementary students in a Montessori environment, providing enriching experiences that complement and enhance classroom learning.
This position may be combined with another role at Bay Montessori School for the right candidate.

Demonstrated knowledge of STEM curriculum, instructional materials, and hands-on learning approaches

Strong communication and classroom management skills

Ability to inspire curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM subjects

Physical Education Teacher (Grades 1–8)
Bay Montessori School is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Physical Education Teacher to join our vibrant Montessori community. This position works with students in 1st through 8th grade in a private school setting, fostering a love of movement, healthy living, and personal growth.
Responsibilities

Plan and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons for students in grades 1–8.

Promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy habits.

Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to support student growth.

Maintain equipment and ensure safety protocols are followed.
Qualifications

Associate's Degree (AA) or Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Education, or a related field.

Minimum of one year of experience working with elementary-aged students.

Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

Ability to engage students through creative and developmentally appropriate activities.

Experience working in an independent or private school setting preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is competitive and based on education and experience. This is a part-time position but could be combined with another position at the school to create a full-time position for the right candidate.

Bay Montessori School is a not-for-profit, 501c3 private school serving children ages birth – Middle School on a 13-acre campus in Southern Maryland. Our school is validated by the Montessori Schools of Maryland and affiliated with the American Montessori Society and the International Montessori Council. Our facility allows students the room to spread their wings and experience nature while being conveniently located near Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
