STEM in the Montessori Classroom?

Maria Montessori believed that to truly understand abstract concepts, they must first be explored in a concrete manner.  The concrete materials she designed represent abstract concepts to be absorbed into the mind by manipulation with the hands. Therefore, the STEM program blends very well in the Montessori classroom because abstract concepts are brought to life with hands-on interactive activities. They both produce creative, innovative and collaborative thinkers.
